As I continue to complete my fictional South Americans, I plan on getting a bunch of flames of war bases or litko 1 inch by 1 inch bases to base up the big amount of leftover minis to base up for use in large scale battles.

I am still considering making 2 armies for AK47 Republic. If so, I need Soviet Post WW2 regulars with AKs 47s in 15mm. The time period would be 1960-1980s so I can use a wide variety of forces.

I considered both forces having a few infantry platoons, some militia bases and some BMP-1s. One side could potentially have Centurions and a couple M113s? The other T-55s, and a couple T-34s. We'll see.

I'm also painting up more plastic War of the Roses minis made by Perry Miniatures for my 2nd Mordheim warband. I will have pics of them up sometime soon.

Don't worry I haven't fallen off the earth. I just haven't gotten around to post up stuff on here.

I've bought a few starships from the company Zandris 4 miniatures. They are pretty well sculpted and will post pictures of my painting efforts soon.

I managed to paint up some 10mm fantasy minis that were already halfway completed. Namely, some Warmaster Empire and some Chaos plague demons.

Remember those 10mm buildings I bought at a hobby store some time ago? Well I'm going to make some terrain pieces using blank cds and integrating all 4 of those buildings into my terrain.

I painted some more detail onto my Sarabonista M26 Pershing tank. I'll take some pics of that later.

I put some stuff together for my fictional South Americans.

I got a blank cd and placed some old plastic 40k ruins from GW on it and some pebbles as well as some twigs to act as tree trunks.

made up of lots of NAC Royal marines in helmets and berets, FSE Colonial Legionaires, and some NSL armored infantry.

I'm not sure when I will do something with these guys but I also have some GZG ravagers, 15mm.co.uk's post apocalyptic warriors to fight with them. I think I will paint them up for use with Mutants and Death Ray Guns from Ganesha Games or something.

We'll see.

Got a nice package in the mail

well, two actually. The first package was of another free sprue of Mantic Games Ghouls through Wayland Games. This surprised me a bit actually, considering I already received one. I don't mind. They are very nice minis.

The second package was of a mix of stuff from a trade. It was full of GZG 15mm Sci Fi, Rebel Minis thugs, terrorists and two Peter Pig militia men from their AK47 line. Also in the bag was a smaller bag full of Old Glory WW2 Russians. These Russians will add themselves into the ranks of the People's Defense Force of the People's Republic of Tunalia.

The Russians consisted of a Light Machine Gunner, a few infantry commanders, lots of tommy gunners and riflemen, a light mortar team with mortar, two heavy mortars with crews and two extra gun crews that I am planning to get artillery guns for really soon.

Not bad.

I've been reading this fascinating book about the Spanish Civil War written by Hugh Thomas. I've known little about the conflict before and it was mostly about German and Italian support for Franco's forces and his political repression as Spain's dictator afterwards.

Reading about the various factions involved in the fighting got me thinking about wargaming the conflict in 15mm or 28mm. Of course this project would be among the hundreds others I have in progress. Miniature wargaming really is an addiction isn't it?

So I thought of doing skirmish in 28mm using the range sold by Empress miniatures. They are superbly detailed and not too expensive.

However, I am more interested in doing this in 15mm but my options are few. There is the range from Peter Pig but I'm not too impressed by the sculpts. I did find a small company called The Late Queen producing a full range in 15mm for the SCW. The sculpts are pretty good quality. I was thinking of doing this project with several minis on a base.

Aside from the Spanish Civil War, I have also considered wargaming the Russian Civil War. No concrete plans on that project just yet.

I am making big strides in my fictional South American forces. Particularly with the Tunalistas.

When the Perry brothers put out the next War of the Roses plastic box, which is supposed to be filled with pikemen and handgunners, I will be able to incorporate more than just bowmen and halberdiers.

I forgot to upload these a couple days ago. I painted up some of the War of the Roses minis I got a time back. I painted them with the idea of making all 80 of my War of the Roses minis as Mordheim warbands with various gang colors. This particular warband wears Red and Grey.

This figure will be a Captain.

Sarabon Liberation Army regulars

This cost the Tunalista treasury a bit more but they got in a few T-55s along with their order of T-70s. This is one of the more advanced tanks for the time period (late 50s, early 60s).

Equipped with all the fancy gadgets, it is Tunalia's best tank to counter the tanks of the Western-backed nations at the time.
The T-55 is made by QRF and I have another I need to build and paint up.

The People's Defense Force of the People's Republic of Tunalia got their hands on a few shipments of Mid WW2 era light tanks from the Soviet Union in exchange for a large shipment of goods.

Though small and armed with an underpowered gun, the T-70 is suitable for patrolling the jungles along the Tunalia/Sarabon border.
With it's superior speed and mobility, the T-70 will hopefully be able to outmaneuver threats posed to it and hit the enemy at its flanks with its 45mm gun.
The tank is from Battlefront and the riflemen is of course from Old Glory's command decision line.

here I was all excited about finding my camera charger but now my SD card won't go into the camera like it's supposed to.

I looked inside the slot where it used to just click in but there is this tiny plastic thing sticking out just slightly enough inside it that the card won't go in all the way. The plastic thing is apparently part of the camera but it never had problems before and now this teeny tiny thing is being a pain.

I'm not even sure as to what to do.

Today is Mother's Day and I find myself at my parent's apartment in Tempe kicking it. I'll be going back home later in the afternoon.

School and work have dominated my life in the recent past which gave me little time for updating my blog, painting, and other things. I have two more finals left. One on Tuesday and one on Wednesday and the semester will be over! It will lift this overall mood of stress and anxiety that I have been forced to deal with recently.

After school is out, I need to get a second job. Stacie and I are planning a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula this summer and I need more greenbacks to make it happen.

Also, after school is out, I can re route myself back into the painting and wargaming aspect of my life that I had to drop for a time.

What sucks is that I have a bunch of Lord of the Rings minis and a few Perry War of the Roses minis that I had painted up a few weeks back, but I seem to have misplaced the charger for my camera battery. When I get back home tonight, I will find it. It annoyed me that I have all these minis to photograph and post onto here and that my damn battery is dying/dead and the charger is nowhere to be seen.

Noize Hive is far from dead folks. It never was and won't ever be. Come Wednesday/Thursday, it will make a comeback! I'm excited for this. Stay tuned!

No joke. That place has so many awesome books I can't take it all in. I found a ton of books on Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin.

When I mean a ton, I mean a ton. There are dozens of books in English, Spanish, and French about these men and others and on the South American Wars of Independence.

I've checked out a few books of Simon Bolivar's political writings, as well as books on his military campaigns, complete with plenty of illustrations of battles and army uniforms.

I am definitely pleased.

my painting has slowed quite a bit due to school, work and other stuff going on in my life. I will get back on track momentarily and the posts will pick up again!

I plan on finishing more of the armored units for my Sarabonistas and Tunalistas.

I need to flock all of the Tunalistas on foot. I would like to get some command figures for these guys later.

I also plan to complete my Warmachine models. I am nearly finished with the Cygnar group and have 1 Warjack done for my Khador group.

I recently began painting up some of the Perry War of the Roses minis. They are awesome! I promise to post pics of those soon as well. Like I had mentioned before, I want to make several Mordheim warbands out of the WOTR minis.

I also started painting up some minis for skirmish level South American Wars of Independence in 15mm using the Song of Drums and Shakos rules. I have some Royalist and Argentinian minis lined up for them.

Don't worry I haven't forgotten about my 6mm SYW British army. I can finish the army quickly if I can just find the time....

Daimler Dingo

After the 1945 War of Independence, Sarabon took much of what the British Colonial Army had left behind and integrated it into the Liberation Army and/or the Civil Guard. Daimler Dingos found themselves being used in patrolling the streets of cities, towns and villages across the nation.

Many are unarmed. They are used as the eyes and ears of the armed forces, as well as the government.
The Dingo is possibly made by Flames of War. I'm pretty sure it is. I got it in a recent trade.

The Sarabonistas purchased a fair amount of WW2 era Shermans from the US after they won their independence from Britain just after the end of WW2. Though the tank is somewhat obsolete in the eyes of others, the Sarabonista Sherman is put to use in the Liberation Army.

Their crews have been trained by foreign mercenaries and CIA agents. They drill constantly in case of an invasion or local uprising.
The tank is made by Battlefront miniatures and I have 4 more to paint up.

Guardia Civil de Sarabon

The Civil Guard of Sarabon are a militia force charged with the tasks of protecting Sarabon's borders, acting as a national police force and as a paramilitary force of the Liberation Army of the Republic of Sarabon. They are lightly armed and equipped. Their uniform is simple.

The minis are Old Glory/Styrex WW2 British Paratroopers. They seemed barely equipped so I thought they would be good as militia units to back up the regular army.
This is the first time I've used any other basing material besides flock so ballast was new to me. I think the bases came out fine. I will be doing this to all of the fictional South American units.
In my modded version of Necromunda, the Civil Guard soldiers would be using the same statistics as the Juves in the rules. The reason being as they are not that well trained and used in roles as well armed police and border patrol.
All I need are some trucks for them to drive around the towns and villages in so that the government of Sarabon can maintain their firm grip on the population. There is talk of Communist spies from Tunalia spreading dissent within Sarabon's borders...

Pablo got his hands on one of the Space Hulk boxed sets some time ago. When I visited my family for spring break we had a few games.

It was way fun! I commanded the Terminators for the most part and managed to fell many many Genestealer aliens.
Space Hulk is a very fun game.

Patrolling the streets of the cities and border regions of Tunalia are small armored cars such as this one. Small and nimble, it can weave in and out of packed streets or thick jungle and lay down some machine gun fire from its tiny turret.

I got this and another armored car from Flames of War. They seemed really cool and could prove useful.

The People's Republic of Tunalia bought a bunch of old WW2 era Russian tanks and weapons after the Communist Revolution of 1954. They did manage to get a few of the newer T-55s but could better afford a ton of older, cheaper vehicles.

Many of these tanks had been used to great effect during Russia's Great Patriotic War against fascist Germany so they had seen much action. Jose Obregon, this tank's gunner, isn't THAT happy with the cramped turret space but he knows it will have to do if he were ever in combat.
This side of the turret has the Tunalista flag on it.
The T-34 is made by Old Glory in their Command Decision line. They are way cool and very detailed. There are two more of them and mostly done except for the little bits and their tracks.

6mm!

As you can see, I've given into Peter Barry's 6mm propaganda and recently acquired a 6mm Baccus British army of the Seven Years War.

So far I have two units of foot done. This one is supposed to be the 24th Foot.

Here's a side view. Wow! These little guys are a breeze to paint! It's odd to paint minis so tiny.
I don't remember which unit this was suppose to be but I had fun painting them.
Here are some Heavy Dragoons whose paint scheme I got off of Reinforcements by Post.

So I have about 2 or 3 units of Light Dragoons, some Line Cavalry and more Heavy Dragoons. I also have 3 Field guns. No commanders yet but that will change later.

I'm currently on the look out for fellow Tuscon 6mm gamers but I'm not sure if anyone really does 6mm and SYW here. Maybe I can play by email with someone? This army should be done fairly quickly which is breakneck speed compared to my other projects.

I've read some good reviews of the Might and Reason 18th Century rules by Sam Mustafa. Maybe even Principles of war for the 18th century. I'm sure there are other rule sets that work well for 18th century warfare.

plugged into the Greyhound bus wifi actually on the Greyhound bus. The bus is just outside of Tucson headed North.

I'm visiting my Family as Spring Break has started. My Brother bought the Space Hulk game so there will be many games of that going down this weekend. I brought some 10mm and 28mm Fantasy minis for Song of Blades and Heroes/Mordheim, some 15mm Napoleonics for Song of Drums and Shakos, and elements of the Liberation Army of the Republic of Sarabon and of the Tunalia's People's Defence Force. Might squeeze in a few games of modded Necromunda with those in this weekend.

Speaking of the Tunalistas, I got 9 of their Line infantrymen done last done before going to sleep. I'll take pics of them when I get back from my visit to Tempe on Tuesday. They look cool in my opinion.

Stacie is in Las Vegas visiting her Dad with her Mom and Brother. I miss her.

I've noticed around town there's a bunch of graffiti. Well, not a lot of it but bits here and there. I see some when I'm cycling to class on a brick wall or on the surface of one of those crosswalk buttons.

I'm gonna take me camera with me and take some pics of the stuff and post them up. Some of it looks pretty neat.

I understand some might not equate graffiti to art but I do see some of it as a form of art just like the minis wargamers paint.

Some Corsairs

I painted up some of the plastic GW Corsairs of Umbar. They were fun to paint and allowed me to paint them in various styles. I didn't want them to look like the Corsairs in the Lord of the Rings movies so I jazzed up the variety.

The way these guys are dressed remind me a lot of Sinbad the sailor and other Middle Eastern dress. I took some influence from this and put in other colors.
I think these guys will be cool in some daring adventures against great demons and foul beasts.

You can't see it too well in the pic but I did a double layer on his pants. I wanted the pants to look like they were made in a canvas color.

I got these Bren Carriers done a few nights ago. They were fun to paint. Though lightly armored, the Bren Carriers will support infantry units with their machine guns and be perfect for recon and transportation roles. In the background you can see my completed Warmachine minis. More on them soon.

Sarabonian M26 Pershing

Captured from the British occupation army during the Sarabon War of Independence, this Pershing tank has been maintained and become one of Sarabon's main battle tanks.

Notice I did a different color scheme and I think it looks cool.

With it's 85mm gun, it's underpowered against many of the new tanks of the world, but their crews are determined soldiers who will make the best use of it.
It has scored 6 'kills' since its inception in the Liberation Army of the Republic of Sarabon.
I have another Pershing made by QRF coming in the mail soon.

both my US History of Labor Unions and Movements and my Latin Image in US film classes are my favorites. I find them fascinating because I am able to gain so much more insight about human society as a whole through historical data analysis and the concepts brought up in discussion.

Things I've suspected about people were confirmed and some disproved.

I've learned much about the formation of stereotypes and the repressive nature of humans. In a way, I've been able to see humans in ways similar to that of Desmond Morris's methods in his The Human Animal documentary.

Taking from what I've discovered about the writings of the philosopher Bertrand Russell and his idea of the outside observer, I've been able to see a small fraction of the horrid, beautiful. loving, hateful, helpful and oppressive nature of humanity. I've seen a tiny part, and there is much, much and much more to learn about myself and the 6 billion other humans who inhabit this world.

I find myself viewing others through such a myriad of lenses and perceptions. I am grateful for higher learning.

I am sitting in the University of Arizona food court gazing upon both a utopia and dystopia at once.

I got most of another Light Warjack called the Lancer done. I also started working on their Warcaster named Commander Striker. I hope to have them done sometime within the next couple weeks.

I'm also gonna get more of my South Americans done tonight. I based up some of the WW2 Russians as Tunalians about an hour ago. They just need a coat of primer and they'll have some cool paint jobs on them.

I was browsing Baueda's website and saw some 15mm WW2 scenics that would be good for my South American project. Of course I wouldn't put trees on them. They would have some jungle foliage. This ammo dump would be cool.

A bunker or two would come in handy. I could see some Tunalians assaulting Sarabonian bunkers and fortifications.
Of course emplacements for anti-tank guns or infantry or even a tank to sit in would be awesome.
Now these Tobruk styled defenses would be great to hide in the jungle in forward positions for the enemy to not be able to spot easily. Especially the ground level buried ones.

I need to get some more terrain for my various projects. Some I need to buy, some I need to actually put together.

Warmachine Cygnar Charger Light Warjack

SURPRISE! Here's a shot of another project I've been working on. On top of South Americans, Fantasy, Napoleonics, Noize Hive painting and whatnot... Warmachine.

I bought a new Cygnar battle group box for $20 on Amazon.com. It was a steal! I started painting this guy earlier today but finished him as my insomnia kept me up.

he needs a touch up here or there but he's done overall.

I also bought a Khador battle group box off of Amazon as well. Gonna get some Warmachine games in it seems like.

Tunialian People's Air Force

The nation of Tunalia recently purchased an Ilyushin-28 bomber from Russia for their small but tough air force. Russian advisors and pilots are currently training Tunalian pilots to use the bomber.

That means the Liberation Army of the Republic of Sarabon will need some firepower to blast that thing out of the air before they get blasted.

I got a package in the mail from my parents full of some of my old mail from Tempe, and 2 boxes of the new Perry plastic War of the Roses minis. My Dad had bought a few boxes of them and was disappointed as to how they didn't stand at the same height with previous Perry minis. They are a tad bit smaller than some manufacturers. My Dad is way picky so he gave my Brother and I the minis. After building a few of these guys to see what they're like, I don't see how my Dad wouldn't want to keep them. I mean look!

These particular minis have such a large range of uses.
They can be for the historical War of the Roses battles and for Fantasy. I'm planning on using them for Mordheim and Song of Blades and Heroes. They size up perfectly with GW's Lord of the Rings range (all the LOTR minis were sculpted by the Perry bros) so they can fight Mordor Orcs and such.

I got this baby done last night. I like it. I used some watered down GW scorched earth brown paint on the tracks to dull the metallic look on them.

One down. Two more to paint! The Pershing tank I ordered is drying on the patio with a nice black base coat.

Sarabonian and Tunalian forces arrived yeterday!

Most of the T.P.D.F. Tunalian People's Defence Force arrive in the mail yesterday. A bag of 50 15mm WW2 Russians by QRF. They're a bunch of charging Russian Riflemen. Along with their 2 T-55s, they'll make battle against the forces of Sarabon. I'll base, prime and paint some minis soon for this force.

The Liberation Army of the Republic of Sarabon or L.A.R.S. received an M26 Pershing and 50 British Paratroopers to make up the Liberation Guard of the Republic of Sarabon. Their Pershing tank will do it's best to combat the newer T-55s.

All the minis were from QRF. The minis are pretty well sculpted. The soldier poses are ok. Their tank moulds must be getting old because there was a bunch of flash on the pieces. The Pershing pieces took a bit of trouble to fit together properly and it still doesn't look all put together well. I'm gonna have to adjust it.

The T-55s have a bunch of flashing in the tracks and the front and rear of the hull. Everything else is fine. Decent cheap tanks in 15mm. I can paint red stars on all of the Tunalia vehicles! That's awesome! I'm not sure about camo schemes for the Tunalians though. I was thinking on painting the soldiers and tanks and grey but it's tool boring of a scheme and they're gonna be fighting in the jungle. I was also thinking of this Syrian tank scheme for them. Or maybe paint them brown, green and khaki. Or just plain dark green. all with red stars of course.

I'm stilling waiting on an armored truck for the Tunalians.

I'm gonna stop buying stuff for a while and get what minis I have ready to paint done and bask in the glory of painted armies!

Republic of Sarabon.

The Republic of Sarabon is a small, young nation in South America whose population lived under the reign of both Spain and England.

The Sarabonians fought for their Independence after WW2 and gained it in 1948. Armed with captured British and US tanks, guns, and supplies, they defend their fragile independence from border clashes with their Soviet backed neighbor, Tunalia.

Ok I've started already on the fictional Post WW2 fictional South American nations. No name for either yet. I've started on some infantry and their vehicles. First up is a very WIP Bren Carrier. This will carry about 3-4 men and will be used as infantry support with that Bren machine gun in the back. So which color(s) look best for the tankette? The scheme with the brown stripes...

or without? These vehicles and men will be used for jungle combat so camo would prove useful.
If no to the first pick, then should a different camo scheme be used like black or dark brown stripes/splotches or just green like the bottom pic? Thanks.

Thoughts on my fictional countries project

So I decided to go along with this project. I still haven't decided whether to do 2 countries in Africa or in South America. I do want them to be in jungle environments though.

Country 1 will be one that gained it's recent independence from Britain after WW2 and has a bunch of leftover British/American equipment. I've bought a Flames of War pack of Late British Riflemen and a pack of 3 Bren Carriers for infantry support. I'm waiting for their M26 Pershing tanks to come in the mail.

Country 2 will be a Soviet backed nation with WW2 Russian uniforms and guns, with post WW2 tanks and vehicles. Thus having 3 T-55 tanks.

As for rules, I thought of using the AK 47 ruleset from Peter Pig but decided to use a modified version of Necromunda rules which I recently played at the Tucson gaming group. Basically it's Necromunda but with weapons profiles for the various guns of the period and since most of the equipment will be from WW2, it should work perfectly for skirmish. I'm gonna write my own rules for the tanks and vehicles... maybe based off of FoW.

Since the soldiers of these countries will be largely poorly led and trained but fairly well armed, the majority of the forces will be classified as in Necromunda as Juves, or inexperienced fighters. It should add to the fun of fielding a small group of men and a tank or two.

Some GW's Lord of the Rings minis. Well... more than just some. I had some of them for a while but never got around to take them off the sprue. I got some Corsairs of Umbar, Mordor Orcs, Orc Warg Riders, Knight of Minas Tirith, Warriors of Minas Tirith and a mounted/dismounted armored Faramir. A lot of cool minis. All of them are perfect for Fantasy skirmish in 28mm.

Using the Song of Blades and Heroes rules, the Corsairs will be regular humans, doing good and evil things in their world. These guys are really well sculpted. I managed to build about half of the box so far.

The Warg Riders are well sculpted as well and I've got them all built. They'll be using the Orc and Goblins stats for Boar Riders in SBH.
The Knights of Minas Tirith are my favorite so far. I got them done this morning. I just need to attach their shields. They'll be Human Heavy Cavalry in SBH. Quality 3+ and Combat 4. With a combat score of 4 they'll smash their way through any infantry line. They would have to be swarmed to be taken down.
None of these are primed or painted of course but I'll post my progress as it comes.

It rained last night and it was sprinkling at 4:50am when I was cycling to work. It's been windy as hell. I like it though. Though it does prevent me from going out on the patio and priming minis.

I got my order from Litko in the other day so I've been basing up a bunch of the 10mm Warmaster minis I got a while ago.

Today I went to work, came home, cleaned the apt, based minis, took a nap, showered and watching some Trailer Park Boys.

in regards to my previous post... I'm leaning towards having a group of WW2 British infantry, tanks and lorries to make up my fictitious country's army. As for what sort of country, I was thinking of making up a South American country which gained it's independence from Britain in a war that started after VE Day.

I have some ideas being tossed around in my head as for it's origins and what friends and enemies it might have. I'm also thinking of what kind of tanks the army should have. I'm somewhat torn between two types I like. The Crusader III. It would be best suited for fighting against other similar medium tanks.

I also like the Valentine II. It has a strange charm to it that appeals to me. It doesn't seem to be the biggest or most powerful tank out there but it could do it's job. It would be good as an infantry support tank to quell unrest, protect border regions, etc.

I was thinking this army should have about 3 tanks, 2 lorries, 2-3 Bren Gun carriers and a platoon of individually based Riflemen. Maybe an anti-tank gun or two. Maybe I should get 2 squadrons of both tanks and interchange them however a battle scenario calls for it.

I am quite curious about Peter Pig's AK-47 Republic rules. I have read many good things about it. I do like the idea of having the option of making up a fictional army. It lends to much creativity and imagination.

So I've recently started to ponder the idea of making a fictitious Post WW2 army for a fictional nation either in Africa, Europe or South America. I got the idea from reading through a copy of the AK 47 rules for 20th century warfare in Africa.

Now, I wasn't planning on using the AK 47 rules as I wanted the small force to be based for skirmish battles. There are a few possibilities I've been considering.

1. A small army of soldiers with WW2 British uniforms and equipment. 2 or 3 medium tanks such as Crusaders or Cromwells. I was thinking of 1 unit of riflemen and 1 unit of British commandos with berets as an elite or royal guard unit. I could make them a South American or African force with the leftover British equipment.

2. A group of soldiers with WW2 Italians uniforms and weapons. A few WW2 tanks. Green uniforms. I also thought of having this force with WW2 Italians on foot with Soviet T-55s. Kind of like a Post War Soviet backed nation. This one could be for Eastern Europe, South America or Africa.

3. An army of soldiers with WW2 Russian uniforms, guns and equipment with T-55s. This is a more generic Soviet backed army that could be used for any part of the world.

As for rules for these. I was thinking of waiting for Ganesha Games to release their Flying Lead rules or using a modified version of their Song of Drums and Shakos rules.

As for the minis. I was thinking of buying Flames of War for the foot and either QRF or Flames of War for the tanks/vehicles.

This would all be in 15mm by the way.

Like I haven't posted in a long while. I thought I would show my new workspace. As you can see, it's cluttered with a bunch of plastic minis. I like my desk. I do have a bunch more stuff to sort into the plastic storage drawers but no more room for them. I'm gonna have to buy another one of the large storage drawers things like the one in the photo.

Here's the view from the right of my desk. Stacie and I live in a really chill complex. There's my bike. I ride to work on that thing. I used to have to ride it to work when it was 41 degrees out at 4:30am when I lived in Tempe.

This is Stacie's cat, Kona. I never used to like going over to her house and seeing him and I believe he felt the same way about me. Now that we live together though, I think we have a much better understanding of each other and he enjoys sitting next to me on the couch when Stacie and I are chilling and watching tv.

have been somewhat lonely. I rode my bike about 12 miles today, exploring Tucson and checking out Hat's Games, which was a lame experience by the way.

Stacie went back to Phoenix to pick up her cat Kona. She ended up staying the night as it got late which left me alone in Tucson since about 11am. I got my work stuff completely cleared up and I start next week.

So after my 12 miles bike ride, I made a flour tortilla quesadilla and watched various subversive documentaries on the world and humanity as a whole.

The time is 3:40 am and I am very sleepy now. I did straighten out the apt so it's not so crowded anymore. Pleasant dreams, world.

The idea of 6mm is creeping through my head...

As if 10mm wasn't small enough...

So last night at the Tucson Gaming Group, I discussed with a few guys the idea of 6mm armies. I mentioned Mike's Leadpile blog and his quest to do the Battle of Borodino all in 6mm.

This morning I find myself looking through the Baccus website. I read up on the Might and Reason rules for 18th Century warfare and the Principles of War rules for the same period.

I Googled Prussian army of the Seven Years War and came across a blog whose author is doing the American War of Independence in 6mm for the rules called Two for Tea. A 6 page ruleset written for fast play games during the AWI. I wasn't ever that much interested in the AWI before and I had tons of ideas flying through my head about how to go about organizing the opposing forces for Two for Tea or Might and Reason/Principles of War in 6mm. AHHH!

I don't know if I should give in or hold off the 6mm devils sitting on both of my shoulders telling me to whip out my debit card and starting spending.

What I do really need is a small bookshelf and a desk/table. I'll get those first and then make a decision about all this 6mm business.

Tonight I attended the Tuscon Historical Gaming Group. I had a lot of fun and met some cool cats.

We played WW1 on the Western Front with a computerized rule set one of the members made. It was really cool. I hope to have many more fun wargames with that group and their members.

Wargaming plans for 2010.

So I do have some plans laid out for my Wargaming in the year 2010.

1. Acquire and paint up more 10mm fantasy warbands for Song of Blades and Heroes. Particularly, from Pendraken, GW and Copplestone. I love this scale and it's PERFECT for skirmish gaming.

2. Get the other SBH supplements for further use.

3. Scour old fantasy rulesets for magic rules to adapt for SBH use.

4. Play SBH and Mordheim! I'm sure I'll find some opponents in Tucson.

5. Build and paint up some 28mm fantasy warbands for use with SBH and Mordheim. For example here's a sprue pic from the GW Night Goblins box. Of course I didn't get a Night Goblin box but I do plan on getting one. As well more minis from a list I made in an earlier post.

6. Painting! I need to paint, paint and paint a lot. I made really good progress in the past two months and I hope to do even better throughout the whole year.

7. Build all of the paper buildings I have acquired.

8. Buy some Hirst Art molds for making plaster buildings for more Fantasy buildings.

9. Making terrain from scratch. I want to make crashed asteroids, hills, craters, etc.

10. Finish up my French, British, Austrian and Spanish squads for Song of Drums and Shakos.

11. Start Prussians and Russians for SDS.

12. Play SDS!

13. Focus my wargaming emphasis on gaming, terrain building and painting. With actual miniature purchases being ones I can finish.

14. Flock everything I paint. No more painted minis on plain bases.

15. Rebase what I want for skirmish onto round bases.

I am very sure there are more things but I'll remember later.

2009 was quite a turbulent year. But I march onwards into the new year.

Now, I do have a few plans for this year. Not 'resolutions' but plans.

First my non-wargaming plans. In no particular order.

1. I want to get an engagement ring for Stacie.

2. Pay off my delinquent credit card debt.

3. Go to the Egyptian Exhibit in the San Francisco History museum on Spring Break with Stacie.

4. Set cash aside for our end of the year trip to Europe. The specific cities to go to are still being decided. Though I think London, Paris and Amsterdam sound cool.

5. Go to Historicon with my Brother in July.

6. Get damn good grades in this first year of my Bachelor's Degree program at U of A.

7. Not move from Tucson until my Master's Degree is finished.

8. Joing a gaming group and actually go to the games. I Love gaming and for some reason things get in the way.

9. Get my guitar out of pawn and get back into playing music.

10. Go to more shows. I missed out on a ton of badass shows. Such as Weekend Nachos, Phobia, Magrudergrind and Unholy Grave.

There's more I bet but these are what I can remember.

Dark Elf Corsairs for SBH

I had some Dark Elf Corsairs made by GW to accompany the Dark Elf Wizard on the Manticore. I don't have the Song of Gold and Darkness supplement for their stats but I'm planning on getting it soon, so I'll have them all calculated. This first one is the Hero/Champion.

Next up is a regular warrior. The double blades makes these guys pretty deadly. I'm not sure if I should count them as regular Elf warriors or if there is another stat for a Dark Elf Elite/Assassin type. I'll find out soon enough.
I know, I know. This guy's sword edge isn't finished. I didn't notice that as I was taking his picture. He's fixed now.
I have 7 more Corsairs to make a hypothetical 10 man/1 wizard on beast warband. It'll probably be smaller.

It's a 232 point warband for Song of Blades of Heroes. First up is the Goblin Archer. With a Quality of 4+ and Combat of 2 he can inflict some damage. Nothing to brag about but he'll do his best.

Here's the Goblin Hero with the Night Goblin wrecking ball to bring the ruckus to the tabletop!

His stats are a bit better than a regular Goblin warrior. With a Quality of 4+ and Combat 3, compared to a Combat of 2 for a regular Goblin.
This is the regular Goblin warrior with a hand club and shield. Quality 4+ and Combat 2 makes Goblin Warriors fairly weak. I have 68 more points to spend to make a 300 point SBH warband and I do have more Night Goblins to base and paint up for the warband. So there will be strength in numbers soon enough.

Here's the 232 point force all ready to go. With a few good die rolls and maybe a bit of luck, they'll forge out a reputation of some kind. All of the minis are made by GW by the way. Happy Gaming!

Xmas gifts I got.

First off, I never saw this coming. So I was excited as hell when I got this gift from my Girlfriend. THE ROOM! It's one of the most awesomest gifts I've gotten. It just oozes cheesiness.

Stacie also got me a couple shirts. THIS is how the world ends.
I'm wearing this one below right now. The top reads DISASTER! The bottom reads, Terror on the moon as old enemy returns! The flying saucers have WW2 German tank insignia on them.
Stacie's Parents got me some Reese's peanut butter cups, a pair of jeans I'm wearing as I'm typing this. Stacie's Grandma got me a tin full of Ukrainian/Polish pastries she baked and $10.

I got some really nice gifts. I still hope that someday I'll get a box of minis from Stacie under the tree but Stacie told me she won't ever do that. We'll see. ;)

I found him in the bargain section of Gamer's Inn. It's a GW Warmaster Dark Elf on Manticore.

Sometimes it really astounds me how people overlook the possibilities in many unwanted minis. Oh well. It's good that I get them and no one else! hahaha

I must admit. The paint job on this mini isn't that best I've done. But I still like it. and of course, the Elf must have blue skin. I have a bunch of Dark Elf Corsairs to accompany him into battle.

These are some really well sculpted minis. Old Glory sometimes has some strange poses but their sculpting quality is still pretty high in my opinion. This Young Guard Lieutenant really exudes a lot of character. These Young Guard really fancied themselves back in the Napoleonic Wars.

I like the campaign look soldiers of the period had. Brown pants to replace the worn out parade white ones. Or shako covers.
This one is in his knee high boots and parade pants. He's still fit for the thickest fighting.
I got these 3 done tonight. Their 4 other comrades will join them soon enough to be a complete Song of Drums and Shakos squad.
They'll for sure kick a lot of ass on the battlefield.

Mighty Armies Barbarian Beserkers

I got a pack of these guys for $4 at Game Depot along with the army box.

They look alright. Should be fun to game with them in skirmish.

I figured out what to do with the Reindeer Chariots in the army box. I'm replacing the reindeer with these Old Glory horses I have. I just need to sculpted on their straps and I'll have chariots without strange reindeer pulling them. Below is a pic of another warrior from the army box.

I really need Litko bases now. I still haven't found the bag of 100 I lost somewhere in my room. I need about 200 small sized ones and 50 of larger cavalry sized ones.

Spent some money of course. Got my Brother's Xmas present and got something for myself. I saw these Mighty Armies figs by Mongoose Publishing in the bargain bin box for a year or two now. There was this box and I think Orcs too. The Orc one is long gone but this one remained. It was 50% off the regular price of $24.95. So at $12 bucks. It wasn't bad. It came with the minis, bases, ruler and the Mighty Armies rules. The picture on the back of the box really didn't do it much justice. There are 4 reindeer chariots in it. Weird I know, but they look better in the metal so to speak. The minis are 15mm fantasy and pretty well sculpted.

Here's the Barbarian leader with his axe raised high. I'm not using the minis for the Mighty Armies rules though. I was planning on basing all these guys individually for SBH. It should be cool.
Here's the Barbarian Shaman. He doesn't look that cool I know. But the other minis included in the box were cool.
Here's a Barbarian warrior. I'll do another post with more pics of the other figures later. But here's one of the regulars. They look a lot like a cross between Dark Ages and Early Medieval soldiers/warriors.

I had a pack of Old Glory ACW Command and characters I got back in January that sat in my room untouched until I decided to take a second look at them. I got all the female figs out and decided to paint them up and based them for some SDS scenarios where the French Commander's Wife is kidnapped by Spanish Guerrillas and must be saved. Or a Spanish General's wife is kidnapped and must be returned by a group of brave Spanish soldiers. I'm sure they'll make for some cool scenarios.

Speaking of Spanish Guerrillas, here's one made by Battle Honors. He's aiming down his sight at a unsuspecting French patrol.

A few months ago I order a free sample of 15mm.co.uk's Fantasy line. I got this little bag full of different miniatures. A small Manticore, a Centaur, a few Human warriors, a giant Slug and this Ape. He's classified as 15mm but I'm sure I can use him for 10mm as well in Song of Blades and Heroes. My Brother and I wrote some SBH stats for him. He'll be Quality 3+, Combat 4 and Long Move, Big, Terror and Animal for his special rules. I painted this guy up with a Privateer Press Greatcoat Grey and highlighted his fur with a drybrush of GW's Codex Grey. His eyes were painted red of course.

Here's a shot of him next to Conan. They may meet again on the table as enemies soon enough.

Some Copplestone Uruk Hai

Here are 2 of the 30 Copplestone Uruk Hai/Half Orcs. Below is the leader. I also have a standard bearer.

They're pretty cool and were very easy to cut off the strips. Something which is a bit different when cutting figs off a GW strip.
They'll see many battle against the enemies of the White Hand of Saruman.

I was at this hobby store and found some 10mm scale Russian Farmhouses made by Pegasus Hobbies. They are for their WW2 range or whatnot but I think they are good for 10mm Fantasy too. Here's Conan standing next to one. Two plastic, pre painted, and pre built houses for $5. Not bad.

Here's another one.
They're well sculpted and definitely worth getting if you need some cheap buildings for Fantasy or 10mm WW2 or Napoleonics.

I got a few of these done. More are on the way. These GW Night Goblins are really cool.

They really have no chance against Conan whatsoever.
But they're still really cool and should be fun to game with.

and below this we have a pic of Conan the Barbarian in 10mm. Made by Copplestone. He's suitable to go on many adventures by himself or bringing along a few friends to rob riches and slay mighty beasts. I don't feel that he is suited in Song of Blades and Heroes to be rostered as a mere Human Leader with a Quality 3+ and Combat 3. I went onto the SBH yahoo group and found someone had made a profile for a Conan character in SBH. The Quality was 3+ and the Combat score was 7. Is it a bit too much muscle for Conan? Maybe. Then again Conan has slain beast many times his size, cut down hundreds of warriors and fought against great wizards.

Below is another Copplestone fig from the Heroes and Halflings pack. I'm not sure what he'll be but until I figure out a more in depth SBH character profile to suit him, he'll be fighting as a Human Barbarian with Quality 3+, Combat 3 and Fearless.

This guy looks very much like Boromir from the Lord Of the Rings. Again from Copplestone, (all of the figs in this post are from Copplestone by the way.) This Boromir has a Horn, and a shield upon his back like Sean Bean did in the recent-ish movie(s). I downloaded a stat sheet off the SBH yahoo group for doing Lord of the Rings in SBH. A normal SBH profile would list him as Quality 3+, Combat 3 and no special rules. But in the LOTR stat sheet he could be Quality 3+, Combat 5, Hero, Fearless and Heavy Armor.
This guy is a regular forest scout guy. Listed as a Hunter in the SBH rules.
This is Aragorn. He is gonna see some adventures of his own. Maybe with Conan. I like the 10mm scale a lot. It lends itself so much to skirmish.

I'm done with the semester!

I'm done! My Associates Degree is completed and now I march on to Tucson to start my Bachelor's degree in History. I am soooooo glad to be done!

So I'm planning to take plenty of South American History classes. I want to study as much as I can on the South American Wars of Independence. That part of history fascinates me greatly.

I won't be accepting any new painting commissions until February 2010
